A Beautiful Wedding at St. Matthews Catholic Church in the heart of Washington, D.C.
Let me start by saying that this wedding was a ton of fun to photograph. Not only was St. Matthew’s Catholic Church breathtaking, but the bridal party was animated, playful and very welcoming. Their energy and kinship stood out, which I believe shows in the photography. Every smile is genuine, every interaction was natural and the bond shared between the groomsmen and bridesmaids was evident in every photograph.
Grace & Patrick and their family were a pleasure to be around. I tend to feed off of the excitement and energy of those around me, so feeling how ecstatic everyone was made me want to capture every moment of their special day. But, boy, were they tough to keep up with! — (in a good way, of course).
Perhaps my favorite part of photographing this wedding was the documentary-style they asked me to prioritize. The wedding party wanted more candid shots, rather than staged portraits, which I thought was great. This style added a ton of life to the gallery. It’s clear they were there to have a great time celebrating Grace & Patrick. That was their sole priority, and one I was on board with.
