I’ve known the beautiful bride since we were young. A group of us would spend our summers at the neighborhood swimming pool as kids. Oh man, I miss those days. It was awesome to reconnect with old friends and be a part of Colleen and Dan’s wedding in such a meaningful way. Their wedding was at the Seabrook Island Beach Club. The streets that head to the entrance of the Club are lined with Angel Oak trees with Spanish moss hanging from their branches-definitely a sight to remember. With perfect weather and an awesome bridal party the wedding went off with out a hitch. I will say, everyone at this party danced their heads off. :) Congratulations Colleen & Dan!

P.S. On our way out, a baby alligator ran across the street :) I’ve never seen a baby alligator in the wild!

Marian and Mark’s wedding was held downtown at the beautiful Holy Trinity Catholic Church. I love the feeling old churches have, the large stone walls and beautiful murals are really something to marvel after. After the ceremony we moved on to the Loews Madison hotel in DC. The dimly lit atmosphere mixed with the slick dance moves, made for an amazing time. There was so much love and laughs surrounding them as they said their vows and celebrated! Congrats Marian & Mark!

Dumbarton Oaks Engagement session | Ashley & Nick | Washington, DC

Dumbarton Oaks is an insanely beautiful garden in DC. It’s a photographers dream. But, you can’t just shoot in there willy-nilly (is that still a thing people say?). So when Ashley & Nick said that they got us all squared away to shoot their engagement photos at Dumbarton, I was so pumped! It’s hard to take a bad shot in that place, especially when your couple is as sweet & genuine as these two. I had the best day with you Ashley & Nick! Can’t wait for your wedding!

Rob & Sara’s wedding at Swan Harbor Farm was so exciting for us. Not only are they such kind people, but their venue was a new one for us. It was like uncharted territory. From endless crop fields to that charming Maryland waterfront, this place had some incredible grounds. Rob & Sara exchanged probably the sweetest vows ever written AND there was a surprise visit from Slapshot (Go Caps!). It’s not every day you get to dance with a giant hockey eagle… It’s not every day you get married! Congrats to Rob & Sara!

With all of its history and old architecture, Federal Hill is iconic Baltimore. Mona & Jared kept it classic but cool, venturing down to the Visionary Art Museum, playing like kids at the park, and just taking in the city below. A huge ferris wheel in the harbor changed up the skyline, and made for some really sweet shots. Congrats Mona & Jared!

I’ve known Dani and Tony for some time now. Tony and I go way back to when we were just two teenagers with nothing better to do but go to concerts or hang out at malls. A few years later I met Dani at my second job, where we all worked, and like to think I had something to do with how they met. :) I was around when they first started dating and have watched them blossom to where they are now. Tony told me he was getting ready to ‘pop the question’ and, (if she said yes, lol), he wanted me to be a part of their journey and be their photographer. I was so siked that she accepted, and now I get to be a part of one of the most amazing and monumental days of their lives. I love any excuse to use my abilities to capture moments – it’s an added bonus when you get to hang out with friends while doing what you love. Congrats you two, can’t wait for your wedding!

Tony and Courtney are genuinely sweet. They aren’t afraid to act like goofballs either. We knew we were in for a solidly fun wedding day when Courtney and her bridesmaids were jumping on the bed in full wedding garb. We were right. Their venue, The Eden Resort offered an outdoor town-front vibe, with all the joys of climate control (yeah! A/C!) It made for a classically cool day that we were so happy to document! Michelle + TJ Engaged | Paint Branch Park Engagement | Silver Spring Maryland Photographer

These two are very close to my heart. Michelle and Tj are part of my church family. I wish I got to see them more but Sundays are in high demand around wedding season. One of my favorite things about shooting with friends is how relaxed and comfortable everyone is. This shoot was about 4 days after my wrist surgery so part of the relaxation was probably due to the heavy narcotics the doctor had me on … ha. Don’t worry, Ian came along in case I couldn’t wield the camera just yet but it was easier than I thought so soon after surgery. For those of you who don’t know, a week or so before this I was shooting a wedding on the Eastern shore when I broke my wrist after climbing something (that broke) to get a shot. In my defense , the shot would have been epic. Anyhow, there is no rest for the weary in wedding season- gotta get right back on that horse. We fly on over to Ohio for Michelle and Tj’s Big day later this month. Can’t wait.

Megan and Josh’s Chesapeake wedding was a Marylander’s dream. After their ceremony at a beautiful church lined with stained glass windows, we headed back to the Chesapeake Beach Resort. Blue skies and picturesque white clouds rolled out on the bay as far as the eye could see. There were dangling lures everywhere, and fresh rockfish on the docks. It was a beautiful day to celebrate on the bay! Congratulations Megan & Josh!

There is something about baseball that makes you feel right at home. Going to the games are a added bonus. :) Jacqui & Eric are like two pea’s in a pod, both with huge love for baseball and the city. From what I could tell, they’re both rather daring as well. Not satisfied with the outside gates of the stadium, we decided to be rebels and get a couple pics inside. From what I remember… the gate was open, and we just walked in. ;) Can’t wait for your wedding guys, I know it’s going to be incredible!

There’s nothing quite like it, the anticipation, the waiting, and when you know it’s time, the excitement. When she first told me she was pregnant, she said, I have something to tell you. That day was on May 23rd, 2013. I knew what she was going to tell me, but I gave her a solid …..umm, what? Rachel said….I’m pregnant…

At first I went through so many emotions, I felt happiness, worry, excitement but mostly, I felt secure. I knew I wasn’t ready for a second child but it would be okay because I have such a strong wife. She is the most solid person I know and has the patience of a saint. She put my mind at ease and made everything feel right. The only thing left in my mind was excitement. Was it going to be a boy or a girl? Would daddy get to play house with two beautiful girls or house with one and baseball with the other. These are seriously the first two things that went through my mind – I’ve never played baseball in my life and have played house more times then I’d like to admit. I come from a large family with lots of sisters.

Feb. 19th, 2014 1:32am.

I was woken suddenly by my wife, “it’s time,” she said. “I think she’s coming soon. We need to leave.” This was after her being in a slow labor all day long. I scurried to get my camera bag together and all Rachel’s belongings in a daze. There’s always that thought that you’re going to forget something important and remember after you leave. 5 mins later her water broke, at that point I was worried, the hospital is a 20 minute drive without traffic from our house. I’m not a doctor but I’ve put bandaids on cuts before, I really did not want to deliver our baby girl (yes another girl!!) at home or on the way to the hospital. 2:25am we were in the car, I wasn’t thinking and made the mistake of taking our mini van, I was thinking comfort… not the ideal vehicle when you’re in a hurry. :) We made it to the hospital at 2:40am got rushed to the birthing center and our baby Violet was born 11 minutes later at 2:51am. Our little girl, weighing in at 9lbs and 21inches long. She is the cutest little thing WITH A FULL HEAD OF HAIR!! Our first daughter, Penny, came out pretty much bald and at 6.5 lbs, we were both scratching our heads. :) Now our world consists of a Penny and a Violet – We’re so happy and excited.

Our first child is a wonderful little girl and if you’ve met her, you’ve been able to let a little bit of happiness into your life. She is the center of our world and is a biggest ball of happiness – we couldn’t live without her. So naturally when we first found out we were pregnant again, we worried. Would we love our second child as much as our first? Would Penny fell abandoned? Would we be able to do it? Now that she is here, she sleeps through the night, looks at you with funny faces and melts you with her beauty. Didn’t take much to take all our fears away. Penny loves Violet with the love of a older sister but the curiosity of an alien. She is an older sister in learning and loves every minute of it. So much to take in but it’s our chance for seconds and we both love seconds.

Megan + Jay Engaged | Fort Mchenry Engagement |Baltimore Maryland Photographer

Megan & Jay only recently moved to Baltimore city but they fit right in already from what I could see on this cold wintery afternoon. The light snow fall added a romantic magical touch rather than the heaps of snow that fell just a few days prior. I always love a couple who is adventurous enough to go out in a little weather. You brave few end up with unique and beautiful imagery We started off going for a stroll in Ft McHenry, apparently the coldest place in the city because of the fact that its sticking way out into the harbor. Then we thought we would find the second coldest place in the city– Locust Point near the Under Armor headquarters. They grabbed a couple drinks in Miguel’s Cocina y Cantina and then we called it a day!

Grey & Peter | Married 2013 | Chesapeake, MD Wedding photographer

We first met Grey and Peter at their home located on The Chesapeake Bay. They live in a beautiful house (custom designed by Peter) overlooking a cliff on the water. They have four dogs all with their own personality. While walking around their property you would often see one of the dogs darting through the woods, disappear for ten minutes then come running back as if they had just seen a ghost. Same thing happened during their ceremony, all four dogs ran away and right before Grey and Peter gave their vows, the dogs came running back as if to come back just to watch. It was an intimate and private ceremony with close friends and family. After wards Peter poured kerosene all over a stubborn bonfire, it was a nice ending to the ceremony. Everything was perfect. This April is their big ceremony and celebration – which I can’t wait to photograph! They’re the nicest guys in the world with an amazing family, Congratulations guys!
