Marian and Mark’s wedding was held downtown at the beautiful Holy Trinity Catholic Church. I love the feeling old churches have, the large stone walls and beautiful murals are really something to marvel after. After the ceremony we moved on to the Loews Madison hotel in DC. The dimly lit atmosphere mixed with the slick dance moves, made for an amazing time. There was so much love and laughs surrounding them as they said their vows and celebrated! Congrats Marian & Mark!

I had a ton of fun shooting Madison’s Senior pictures. Mid Session, Madison’s Horse (Blue), decided he didn’t want to give anymore rides and flung Madison off his back, rodeo style. As she laid there starring at the blue sky with the wind knocked out of her, she mustered up the words…. Did you get any pictures? Lol. I literally thought she was dead. She powered through the rest of the session like nothing happened and we got some really awesome shots.

One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is spending the day with folks who are so excited and full of love. Shooting Claudia & Alphonso’s wedding was one of these feel good days for sure! Their venue, The Old silk mill was a new one for us, so we loved having totally fresh back drops to capture all of Claudia & Alphonso’s beautiful day! Congrats!

When Rikki first contacted me about her engagement session she told me she really wanted to use the Arboretum in DC, but the Government shut down kept us out. Instead we used Pierce Mill, at Rock creek park. I used to drive past this location frequently coming home from DC, eager to get home, I would always think to myself, that looks like a peaceful place to stop and relax. Thanks to Rikki and Ryan I finally got to stop and hang out for a little while at Pierce mill. Rikki just finished Veterinarian school – Ryan owns and operates a roast beef sandwich joint in DC, called MGM Roast beef. Guy Fieri would definitely give this place two thumbs up, I give it ten. It’s seriously that good. If I would’ve known about it before the day I met them, I would have definitely stopped by his place back in the day, gotten a sandwich and had myself a picnic at Pierce mill. Congratulations you two, can’t wait for your wedding!

I met these two at Liz & Andy’s wedding last summer (Liz is Buddy’s older sister). Danielle and I actually got to enjoy Sunday dinner with their whole family a few weeks ago; Buddy and Liz’s mom was so nice to invite us over before we did the engagement shoot. It was great getting to know the whole family! After dinner, Jennifer and Buddy pulled on their cowboy boots and led us behind the house down a trail into a beautiful, rustic, country-esque park. I felt like we were in western Maryland or something for a moment; I kept forgetting we were in Elkridge, only 20 minutes away from where I live. The place was picture perfect and of course Buddy and Jennifer were right at home practically in their own backyard

I first met Billy & Laura two years ago at Karen & Ryan‘s wedding. I had so much fun shooting Karen’s wedding. So, when Billy, her brother, contacted me to shoot his wedding, I couldn’t of been more excited. During our shoot below, while we were scouting for our next location, we found this little torn up shack, it looked tattered, worn and old. (My favorite) There was a section marked off with yellow tape, as I was ducking under the tape to examine the old beauty, a security guard came driving past. BTW, I have the worst luck, and he came right over and advised us to stay away from the yellow tape section of the shack. It was like slapping an ice cream cone out of a little kids hands right before he took his first bite; why! So as the security guard drove away I looked at Billy and Laura, we all shrugged our shoulders, and climbed in the shack. Hah! Made my day! Thanks for being so awesome guys!

Adrienne + Peter | Married 12.01.12 | Washington DC wedding photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing one of my high school buddies, Adrienne We were actually in the same photo class one year. We had the best photo teacher in the world, which opened up the world of photography and started a life-long pasion for me. The funny thing is, Mr. Drew wasn’t even very good at photography, he was just an incredible teacher. To this day, every time I hear the song “Porcelain” by Moby, I remember our class photo critiques. But I digress. Adrienne has always had a unique style so I knew her wedding would definitely be one to remember and beautiful to photograph. Then I found out Peter was a fellow motorcycle rider Anyhow, from their “First Look” on the rooftop of their apartment building in downtown DC, to portraits on the Ural (his Russian motorcycle), the quaint decor and ambiance of St. Anselm’s Abbey, and the unique styling of something vintage rentals at the reception, it certainly was everything I expected and more.

Jessica + Dustin | Married 9.7.12 Turf Valley Country Club | Maryland Wedding Photographer

I first met Jessica & Dustin a few months back for their engagement session. Instantly fell in love with their candor and playful dispositions. One of the things I love most about shooting engagement sessions before the wedding is you really get to meet your couple. There’s something about it that just melts away the camera awkwardness so the big day is nothing but a good time. Jessica & Dustin got married at one of my favorite venues in town. Turf Valley Country Club. First off…The food is always delicious And second, they have some of the prettiest trees out in their gardens (so pretty that we decided to climb them). We are actually going to do a wedding show there this coming January… So check back with us on Facebook for the details. We would love to meet you and hang for a bit at the show. Any how Jessica & Dustin were married at the Gazebo under the large weeping willow . Their puppy, Layla, joined them of course The huge trees were a perfect buffer for the residual summer heat. Hey there!

Well we have had a busy summer and it looks like just it was just the beginning because the fall weddings are in full swing now. We have met a lot of new friends and awesome people over the course of the last few months, some of which we will never forget Seriously… one awesome thing about this job is the people you get to hang out with. Anyhow, not all of our friends were new ones. Take Andrea and Jonathan, for example. I have known Andrea since high school. We shared classes together at good old PBHS (Paint Branch high school in Burtonsville, MD). Never thought I would be shooting her wedding. And what a beautiful wedding it was. You wouldn’t know it from the outside… but Spencerville church has an incredible sanctuary. Most times when a bride tells me the ceremony is going to be inside, I dont get my hopes up to high. But Spencerville had wall to wall classic wood with beautiful stained glass. It made for a beautiful backdrop for the wedding and complimented Andrea’s wedding colors very well. A & J’s bridal party was also one of the most fun we have worked with. You guys are truly blessed with some of the best friends and family. Jonathan’s brother had me cracking up at the reception with his comedy routine, I mean toast! Everyone was laughing so hard for at least 10 minutes- it was a great way to start the party

All in all It was a perfect day for two very cool people. Congrats guys!

Beth + Gary | Married 6.30.12 Hillendale Country Club | Maryland Wedding Photographer

Before I tell you about Beth & Gary’s wedding, I have to first tell you about the circumstances leading up to it. All of you who live in MD know that the evening before Saturday, June 30th, we had a “Derecho” blow through, downing trees and knocking out power all over the area http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/29/virginia-dc-derecho-storm_n_1639274.html . Some of us were without power for 4 days! By some of us…I mean me. So it was the night before the wedding and I had all my gear plugged in charging for the big day. Make a long story short… I woke up to no power and a full bag of dead equipment! Since we still had a few hours before show time, I started calling everyone I knew. Nope no power… I was getting a little panicked. So, I got in the car and stared driving north. I found a Panera Bread after about a half an hour of no luck. The place was packed, but I managed to snag one of the only two open outlets in the whole place. I spent the next 3 hours pretending to drink my drink and eat my bag of chips, which i finished 5 minutes after I got them. Anyhow, thanks Panera for saving the day! I successfully made it their wedding with no problem! So on to Beth & Gary. I think it’s hilarious that the very last couple we blogged about, the bride loved the Ravens and the groom loved the Steelers. Well reverse that, and you have Beth & Gary. ha! They are actually all-around sports fans . So….when we arrived at the Hillendale Country Club the power was on (hooray!) and everyone was ready to go. Beth was a surprisingly calm and collected bride, given the craziness of the power outage situation. The grounds of the Country Club were beautiful of course; the bright green lawn made for a nice contrasting background. Everything went beautifully, from the sentimental moment of Beth’s Dad seeing her as a bride to the vows to the party afterwards!! We even got to see our good friends, Lauren & Alex Bernstien (Gary is Alex’s cousin) once again!

We thoroughly enjoyed your wedding Beth & Gary and we all wish you a lifetime of happiness together! Congrats again.

Erika + Tim | Married 5.19.12 | Luxurious

Ian and my self were quite fond of Erika & Tim 5 min after we first met the morning of their engagement shoot in downtown Annapolis. Its one of those things where you meet and instantly start having fun with them. You can see a little how our day went here. First off, they had a word for their wedding day. That word was Luxurious… and it was Luxurious indeed. E & T were married in a little marina on the eastern shore. It was quite hot out, but it went really well with the nautical beachy theme they came up with. I loved all the details. My favorite part of the whole night was by far the party. Everyone was so much fun it felt like we were guests! See for yourself More video to come soon

Thea + Josh | Engaged Washington D.C.

Thea & Josh met me at the Jefferson Memorial on a relativity cool evening a couple of weeks ago. When she told me they wanted to start at the memorial I really wanted to give them something you don’t see every day since everyone shoots the memorial. Any how we had some fun there and concluded the evening at one of their favorite restaurants on capitol hill, The Monocle. Thanks for an awesome session guys and for an amazing dinner. It was a pleasure hanging out with you.

Sarah + Josh | Engaged | Fells point, Baltimore MD

Sarah & Josh met us in the middle of Patterson Park, which is within walking distance of their home. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day for a walk with their puppy. I love shoots like this because it really spotlights something the couple actually does on a regular basis together. One thing you’ll love about Sarah and Josh is although they are head over heals for each other, Sarah is a die-hard Ravens fan and Josh is a die-hard Steelers fan. Now I know in normal circumstances this would be a problem but they didn’t throw one punch the entire time. They did a great job- I love the shots of them in their jerseys! Sarah & Josh were also lucky enough to be featured in the Baltimore Sun so you can read their whole story here.

Andrea & Kyler | WEDDING | 10.22.2011 |

Andrea and Kyler are such a perfect couple, they complement each other in such a great way. They got married in Glen Burnie MD, and moved their reception to a beautiful Inn in Eldridge MD. Everything was perfect! After being announced, they both came running in so happy, like that of children who couldn’t wait to tell their parents what they just did, it was so heartwarming to see such joy! They gave a polite wave and went into their first dance, the way they looked into eachother’s eye’s was truly moving, it felt like we were watching a movie, who knew that stuff happened in real life Congrats Andrea & Kyler!
